Sommelier George Zaboura’s Pick of the Week – Sun News (Cleaveland, OH), August 7, 2010

“This is an attractively round and tasty blend of Merlot, Cabernet and Syrah. Flavors of mocha, bell pepper, rose petals and vanilla highlight this supple wine. For me, a wine that is described as supple must be soft, lush and velvety and this blend is just that.”

2007 Red Blend

Excellent – Wine Press Northwest, Spring 2010 issue

“Don't look for a duck on the label because for this wine, it's a tufted puffin. The estate Desert Wind and Sacagawea vineyards came together for a blend of Merlot (48%), Syrah (30%) and Cabernet Sauvignon. Influence of Syrah shows with the blackberry aromas, which are joined by cherry, molasses, caramel, cedar and alfalfa. It's a drink filled with richness of cherries, chocolate and mint, then shows some chalky tannins in the midpalate. Enjoy the cordial cherries in the farewell.”
88 points / Highly Recommended – Beverage Testing Institute
“Nearly opaque violet color. Ripe aromas of cassis pie and praline follow through on a round entry to a dry-yet-fruity medium body with slate and mint cream notes. Top Finishes with a chewy, dusty oak tannin fade. A nice sipper or table wine to serve with gourmet Kobe burgers.”
Selected as one of "Top 10 Value Wines of 2010" by Drink Nectar Wine Blog
"While this blend of Merlot, Cabernet and Syrah may be bottled in Oregon, the fruit comes from the Desert Wind Winery vineyards on the Wahluke slope. A slight sweet cherry fruit on the front palate with a woodsy chalkiness that settles on the back part of the tongue. Moderate acidity with subtle vanilla and cocoa spices on the finish. A fairly complex wine with good structure. Leading with heavy oak keeps this one from scoring high. It’s a great value and a wine for lots of occasions. Better with food. 3+/5"
