' Duck Pond - Duck Pond Winery Staff

Winery Staff

Nick Berube - Marketing and Brand Manager

I was born in: Fresno, CA
When I'm not at work, you'll find me: Wine tasting throughout the Willamette Valley, trying new restaurants in Portland, playing with my dog (a naughty Chihuahua), or looking for new hiking spots.
What I like best about Northwest wines: Vintage variation. So many regions produce cookie cutter wines, but in the Pacific Northwest each vintage uniquely expresses itself.
Something that's always in my fridge at home: Cheese and hot sauce
I really love this Duck Pond wine: 'St. Jory Vineyard' Pinot Gris. The beautiful tropical aromas/flavors, the full round mouthfeel and bright acidity of this wine make it a perfect pairing for dinner or alone.
My favorite drink besides wine: Water or Fernet and Diet (although the Fernet and Diet is an acquired taste)
A unique food and wine pairing I love is: Pepperjack Cheez-Its and German Riesling
A memorable place I've traveled: I was fortunate enough to live in Mendoza, Argentina for nearly two years.
Something most people don't know about me is: I’m a champion hog caller, and have the whittled wood pig trophy to prove I’m that awesome at it.

Cooie Goulding, CSW - Northwest Regional Sales Manager

I was born in: Wilmington, DE
My high school mascot was: The Hiller (not sure what that is)
When I'm not at work, you'll find me: Doing yoga, traveling with my husband or spending time with my dog
What I like best about Northwest wines: The vast number of styles and varietals grown
Something that's always in my fridge at home: Champagne
I really love this Duck Pond wine: 'St Jory Vineyard' Pinot Noir
My favorite drink besides wine: A latte first thing in the morning!
A unique food and wine pairing I love is: Popcorn and Champagne
Something most people don't know about me is: My real name is Caroline. “Cooie” is a nickname given to me by my older brothers.

Amanda Johnson - Tasting Room and Hospitality Manager

I was born in: Portland, OR
What I love about my job: It’s the perfect trifecta of management, customer service, and creativity/planning.  I’m never bored.
What I like best about Northwest wines: Variety. The Northwest can do it all!
Something that's always in my fridge at home: Cheese...cottage, cream, a block.  Lots of cheese.  And loads of milk.
I really love this Duck Pond wine:  'St. Jory Vineyard' Pinot Noir
My favorite drink besides wine: Gin and tonic
A unique food and wine pairing I love is: 'St. Jory Vineyard' Pinot Gris and shrimp tacos from the nearby Taqueria Guerrero (eaten with loads of the blackish red sauce).  Mmmmmmm.
A memorable place I've traveled: Australia. If I had an extra life in which I could live out my days being a hippie homeless beach bum there, I would.

Noel Johnson - Wine Club and Specialty Sales Manager

I was born in: Napa Valley, CA
My high school mascot was: The Vintage Crushers
When I'm not at work, you'll find me: Exploring new hiking trails rain or shine with the cutest Husky-Border Collie mix around

I really love this Duck Pond wine: St. Jory Pinot Noir
My favorite drink besides wine: LaCroix Sparkling Water, preferably the grapefruit variety
A unique food and wine pairing I love is: French fries and Champagne: it works and it’s delicious
A memorable place I've traveled: Snorkeling a cenote in Tulum was a surreal and fantastic experience
Something most people don't know about me is: I love to write. I have a collection of short stories and a somewhat popular blog.

Paul Johnson - Tasting Room Lead

I was born in: Danbury, CT
When I'm not at work, you'll find me: Kayaking a local lake or river, if it's a sunny day. I also spend a great deal of my free time reading, writing, and making artwork. All of this does, of course, take place when I'm not out hiking with my dog.
What I like best about Northwest wines:
The true elegance, body, and diversity of these cool-weather wines. Pinot Noir is, without a doubt, my favorite varietal (so much so that I moved across the country to be nearer to it!).
Something that's always in my fridge at home: Siracha
My favorite drink besides wine: I am a lover and collector of all types of craft beer.
A memorable place I've traveled: One of my favorite parts of the world is the coast of Maine.
Something most people don't know about me is: I'm a published writer. I have several poems and short stories printed in various publications and I am currently writing a fantasy novel.

Shaun Lopez - California Sales Manager

I was born in: Yucaipa, CA

What I like most about Northwest wine: The clean, classic character and wide variety.
Something that's always in my fridge at home is: Beer, wine and cheese, because every day should be a celebration.
I really love this Duck Pond wine: 'St Jory Vineyard' Pinot Noir, which is also my favorite wine of all time.
My favorite drink besides wine: Beer--Corona and Asahi.
A unique food and wine pairing I love is: Moet with fried chicken and truffle fries. The acid in the Moet nicely offsets the fat and salt in the food.

Nick Roberts - HR Compliance & Accounting Assistant

I was born in: Kennewick, WA
My high school mascot was: The Warriors
What I love about my job: The amazing view out of my office window and the amazing people I get to work with.
When I'm not at work, you'll find me: Attending renaissance festivals or playing board games.
